The Zenith El Primero Rainbow Flyback 01/02.0470.405 is already one of the most historically important chronographs of the modern era, but examples featuring the original tritium dial are especially coveted among collectors. It is estimated that only 4000 of this version were made. Produced in the 1990s as part of Zenith’s contract to supply pilot watches to the French Air Force, the Rainbow Flyback combined military functionality with one of the most legendary chronograph movements ever created—the high-beat El Primero Caliber 405 flyback chronograph. Its distinctive multi-colored chronograph hands, black bezel, and highly legible pilot-inspired dial gave the watch a personality unlike anything else on the market. While later service dials and luminova replacements exist, original tritium examples remain the benchmark for serious collectors.

What makes the tritium model so special is the character it develops over time. The luminous material often ages into rich cream, ivory, or light yellow tones that create a warm contrast against the matte black dial, giving each watch a unique appearance impossible to replicate. Case has light normal wear with nothing notable. Bracelet is in great shape with very little wear. Dial has become a nice beige patina with hands aging the same color. Crystal has minimal light wear. Watch is running (+5s/d 290 amp), but the chronograph hands does not reset to zero 100% of the time.
