Let's face it – field watches have become a bit ubiquitous. A genre focused on legibility and classical, less-is-more aesthetics still deserves freethinking experimentation occasionally. Thank goodness for UNIMATIC. The brand's take on the three-handed tool watch is one for the books. Up front, we have a California dial orientation – half Arabic numerals; half Roman numerals – and around back, an engraved caseback with a military-style bullseye engraving as well as the individual production number of each watch.
It's somehow both conservative and compelling, a canvas for UNIMATIC's potent blend of contemporary Italian flair and old-world aestheticism. While the Modello Due may borrow some design details from the field-watch genre, make no mistake, this is a do-it-all sport watch at its core, boasting 300 meters of water resistance.
Compared to the Modello Uno case, the Modello Due is similar but lacks crown guards and features more concise angles around the lugs and caseband. It measures 38.5mm in diameter and comes delivered with both a black two-piece cordura strap and an additional NATO-style strap.
