The Seiko Prospex SPB149 55th Anniversary Limited Edition celebrates 55 years of Seiko's dive-watch heritage, drawing inspiration from the legendary 1965 62MAS, Japan's first professional diver. Released in 2020 and limited to just 5,500 individually numbered pieces worldwide, the SPB149 features a 40.5mm stainless steel case with Seiko's protective Super-Hard coating and a distinctive blue-grey sunburst dial created specifically for the anniversary collection. Its vintage-inspired design includes a black unidirectional diving bezel, applied luminous hour markers, curved sapphire crystal, and screw-down crown. With 200 meters of water resistance, a stainless steel bracelet, and an originally included silicone strap, the SPB149 combines the classic proportions of Seiko's earliest dive watches with modern durability and functionality.

Inside is Seiko's automatic Calibre 6R35, a 24-jewel movement operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour and delivering an impressive 70-hour power reserve. The movement features manual winding, hacking seconds, and a practical date display at 3 o'clock. The SPB149 pays tribute to the original 1965 Seiko diver, a watch that helped establish the brand's reputation for reliable underwater timekeeping and was later used by members of the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition.
