Rolex 'Red' Submariner 1680
The Rolex Submariner ref. 1680 was introduced in the late 1960s, and it was the first Submariner to include a date complication. Rolex Submariner ref. 1680s, produced before the watch reached the 4.0 million serial number range, are referred to as "Red" Submariners because of the single line of red text on the dial that states the model name. Rolex would later change the text to a consistent white color, which continues to this day. The single red line of text on the black dial has become this watch's defining characteristic, and it's one of the main reasons the "Red" Submariner has become is so sought-after.
