Details

The Panerai Radiomir 8 Days Black Seal Ref. PAM610 is a modern execution of Panerai’s most historically pure design language—lean, minimalist, and rooted in the brand’s 1930s Italian military heritage. Introduced around 2015, the watch features a 45 mm polished stainless steel cushion case with signature wire lugs and onion crown, giving it a softer, more vintage silhouette compared to the Luminor line. The black sandwich dial is quintessential Panerai: large luminous Arabic numerals, cut-out indices, and a clean two-hand layout with minimal text, emphasizing legibility and symmetry.

What really defines the PAM610 is its movement. Inside is the in-house Panerai Calibre P.5000, a manual-winding movement with an impressive 8-day (192-hour) power reserve, achieved through twin barrels. This long reserve is a nod to historic Panerai watches built for extended military missions. The movement is visible through a sapphire exhibition caseback, and the watch is rated to 100 m water resistance, making it durable despite its dress-leaning aesthetic.

Brand History

Panerai was founded in 1860 by Giovanni Panerai in Florence, Italy, originally serving as a watchmaker’s shop, workshop, and the city’s first watchmaking school. The brand gained prominence in the early 20th century as the official supplier of precision instruments to the Royal Italian Navy. It was during this time that Panerai developed its now-iconic Radiomir and later the Luminor—robust, highly legible dive watches equipped with luminous materials and oversized cushion-shaped cases designed for military use. For decades, these models were top-secret tools of elite naval divers, only entering the civilian market in the 1990s.

Today, Panerai is known for blending Swiss mechanical expertise with bold Italian design. The Luminor and& Radiomir collections remain the foundation of the brand, recognized by their signature crown guards, sandwich dials, and strong wrist presence. The more recent Submersible line pushes deeper into the professional dive category, while in-house calibers and limited-edition releases have elevated Panerai's status among collectors. Panerai’s watches are not just tools—they’re a statement of heritage, adventure, and mechanical precision, deeply rooted in maritime history and built for those who value distinctive, purpose-driven design.
