Details

The Panerai Luminor 1950 Regatta 3 Days Chrono Flyback PAM526 is a bold professional-grade chronograph built for precision on the water. Its 47 mm polished stainless steel cushion case houses a striking black dial accented by vibrant orange and blue highlights, with luminous hour markers and hands for maximum legibility. Specially designed for yacht racing, the regatta countdown timer is operated via dedicated pushers, while the flyback chronograph function allows for instant reset and restart. A unidirectional rotating bezel, large locking crown guard, and robust 100 m water resistance emphasize its tool-watch heritage.

At its heart, the in-house P.9100/R automatic calibre delivers a 72-hour power reserve and integrates column-wheel chronograph architecture with regatta-specific functions, visible through a sapphire exhibition caseback. Paired with a sporty rubber strap, the PAM526 embodies Panerai’s seamless blend of Italian design and Swiss engineering—equally suited for the rigors of the regatta circuit or as a statement piece on the wrist.

Brand History

Panerai was founded in 1860 by Giovanni Panerai in Florence, Italy, originally serving as a watchmaker’s shop, workshop, and the city’s first watchmaking school. The brand gained prominence in the early 20th century as the official supplier of precision instruments to the Royal Italian Navy. It was during this time that Panerai developed its now-iconic Radiomir and later the Luminor—robust, highly legible dive watches equipped with luminous materials and oversized cushion-shaped cases designed for military use. For decades, these models were top-secret tools of elite naval divers, only entering the civilian market in the 1990s.

Today, Panerai is known for blending Swiss mechanical expertise with bold Italian design. The Luminor and Radiomir collections remain the foundation of the brand, recognized by their signature crown guards, sandwich dials, and strong wrist presence. The more recent Submersible line pushes deeper into the professional dive category, while in-house calibers and limited-edition releases have elevated Panerai's status among collectors. Panerai’s watches are not just tools—they’re a statement of heritage, adventure, and mechanical precision, deeply rooted in maritime history and built for those who value distinctive, purpose-driven design.
