Details

The Omega Speedmaster Legend “Michael Schumacher” Ref. 3507.51.00 is a special variant of the famed Speedmaster chronograph that pays tribute to Michael Schumacher, one of Formula 1’s greatest drivers and a long-time Omega ambassador. Introduced in the mid-2000s as part of Omega’s Legend Collection, the 3507.51.00 blends the heritage of the Speedmaster with racing-inspired design cues and commemorative touches linked to Schumacher’s record-breaking career. It’s instantly recognizable by its 42 mm stainless steel case, fixed tachymeter bezel, and distinctive black “reverse panda” dial—often accented with red highlights—that evokes motorsport aesthetics while retaining the classic 3-register chronograph layout Speedmasters are known for. The solid caseback is marked with “MICHAEL SCHUMACHER – THE LEGEND COLLECTION” engraving, underscoring its thematic connection to racing history.

Mechanically, the 3507.51 is powered by Omega’s automatic Calibre 3301, a COSC-certified column-wheel chronograph movement with vertical clutch, ensuring smooth and precise operation of the chronograph functions along with robust daily performance and a ~55-hour power reserve. The watch also includes a date complication, reliable water resistance to 100 m, and a stainless steel bracelet that balances sporty character with everyday versatility. Though no longer in production and not as widely known as some other Speedmasters, the Schumacher Legend remains a compelling piece for collectors who appreciate Speedmaster pedigree fused with motorsport heritage, crisp chronograph functionality, and a unique design rooted in the legacy of one of racing’s most iconic figures.

Brand History

Founded in 1848 by Louis Brandt in Switzerland, Omega has grown into one of the most respected and innovative names in watchmaking. The brand’s early focus on precision earned it accolades at international observatories and competitions, setting the stage for decades of horological achievement. Omega became the official timekeeper for the Olympic Games in 1932, and in 1969, the Speedmaster Professional—nicknamed the "Moonwatch"—made history as the first watch worn on the lunar surface during NASA’s Apollo 11 mission. Omega’s innovations continued with the introduction of the Co-Axial escapement in the late 1990s, a groundbreaking movement that dramatically reduced friction and improved long-term accuracy.

Omega’s lineup showcases a wide range of iconic models that reflect the brand’s legacy and versatility. The Seamaster, introduced in 1948, is a favorite among divers and famously worn by James Bond since 1995’s GoldenEye, blending technical capability with cinematic cool. The Speedmaster remains one of the most storied chronographs in existence, while the Constellation is known for its refined design and chronometric precision. The De Ville collection offers a more elegant, dress-focused aesthetic, often featuring high-end complications and meticulous finishing. Omega continues to lead with innovations like Master Chronometer certification, METAS testing, and antimagnetic technology—ensuring that its watches are not just beautiful, but built for the demands of modern life.
