Details

The Omega Speedmaster Broad Arrow Ref. 3594.50 is an important neo-vintage Speedmaster created as a tribute to the original CK2915 that launched the collection in 1957. First appearing in 1997 as part of Omega’s 40th-anniversary “Missions” project before entering regular production in 1998, the watch was originally marketed as the Speedmaster ’57 “Replica” and later referred to by Omega as the “Relaunch.” It uses the familiar 42mm asymmetrical stainless steel Moonwatch case but incorporates several defining details from the first-generation Speedmaster, including polished Broad Arrow hour and minute hands, an applied Omega logo, vintage-style dial typography without the “Professional” designation, and an engraved stainless steel tachymeter bezel instead of the traditional black insert. The dark grey-black dial sits beneath a Hesalite crystal and uses Super-LumiNova rather than tritium, giving the 3594.50 an unusual combination of early Speedmaster aesthetics and late-1990s construction.

Powering the 3594.50 is Omega’s manually wound Calibre 1861, the same Lemania-derived chronograph movement used in contemporary Speedmaster Professional Moonwatches. Operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour, the 18-jewel movement uses a cam-operated chronograph system and provides approximately 48 hours of power reserve. The regular-production 3594.50 was offered from 1998 until approximately 2003 and was not itself a numbered limited edition, although its relatively short production period has made it considerably less common than the standard Moonwatch. With its steel tachymeter bezel, Broad Arrow hands, applied Omega logo, Hesalite crystal, manual-wind 1861 movement, and classic Moonwatch case, the 3594.50 occupies a fascinating position in Speedmaster history as one of Omega’s earliest attempts to revive the design language of its original 1957 chronograph.
