The Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch Ref. 3570.50 (circa 1996) is one of the most recognizable versions of Omega’s legendary chronograph and a direct descendant of the watches worn during NASA’s Apollo missions. It retains the classic 42 mm stainless-steel case, black dial, and tachymeter bezel that have defined the Speedmaster Professional for decades. True to Moonwatch tradition, the watch is fitted with a hesalite crystal, the same material specified by NASA for space missions due to its shatter-resistant properties.
Powering the 3570.50 is the Omega Calibre 861, a manual-winding chronograph movement derived from the historic Lemania-based Calibre 861 used in earlier Moonwatches. The movement beats at 21,600 vph and offers roughly 48 hours of power reserve, known for its reliability and robust design. A 1996 example typically features tritium luminous markers, which can develop a warm patina over time—a detail often appreciated by collectors. Paired with a stainless-steel bracelet and solid caseback engraved with the classic Speedmaster hippocampus emblem, the 3570.50 remains one of the most authentic modern interpretations of the Moonwatch heritage.
