Introducing the Ming 17.09 Burgundy - a timepiece that combines modern functionality with timeless design elements. It's a watch that represents an evolution in daily wearers, showcasing new features and design updates that enhance both its aesthetic appeal and practicality. The 17.09 model introduces laser-etched, lume-filled sapphire indices that create a captivating glow and reflect Ming's commitment to innovation. The dial features a two-piece construction with a fine Clous-de-Paris pattern in the center and a circular brushed outer portion. This offers a dynamic presentation that adapts to changing light conditions.

The Ming 17.09 Burgundy's case is crafted from polished and brushed 316L stainless steel. It has undergone proportional revisions to enhance its appeal while maintaining a wearable 38mm size suitable for a wide variety of wrist sizes. The lugs have also been reprofiled with a continuous twist, extending the brushing from the case flanks to the underside of the lugs, showcasing Ming's signature style.

Beyond cosmetic enhancements, the Ming 17.09 Burgundy features an independent hour hand adjustment mechanism developed in collaboration with Manufacture Schwarz-Etienne. Based on the Sellita SW330-2 movement, this exclusive modification allows for the independent adjustment of the hour hand, providing added convenience for users.

Powered by the Cal. 330.M1 movement, modified by Manufacture Schwarz-Etienne and exclusive to Ming, the Ming 17.09 Burgundy offers exceptional reliability and precision. With a 42-hour power reserve, 28,800 bph (4Hz) frequency, and a hacking function, this movement is regulated with a rigorous 250-hour test program to ensure optimal performance.

The Ming 17.09 Burgundy comes with a textured calf leather strap handmade by Jean Rousseau Paris and features a signed flying blade pin buckle. It offers both style and substance. Made n Switzerland, this watch represents excellence in watchmaking craftsmanship.

Brand History

Horologer MING, founded in 2017 by photographer and watch enthusiast Ming Thein, has quickly become a notable player in the watch industry. Born from Thein's passion for horology and frustration with the industry's increasing prices and pretentiousness, MING was created alongside a group of like-minded enthusiasts. The brand's philosophy centers on delivering mechanical watches with distinctive designs, exceptional value, and integrity across all price points. MING's approach is characterized by its reductive design language, featuring strong symmetry, flared lugs, and visual layering that creates dynamic appearances under different lighting conditions.

Despite its young age, MING has garnered significant acclaim, including a GPHG shortlisting for its 19.01 model in 2018. The brand operates through collaborations with various partners, allowing it to produce a range of watches from entry-level to high-end pieces. MING's unique position in the market stems from its commitment to transparency, limited production runs, and a customer-centric approach. As the brand continues to evolve, it faces challenges due to its Malaysian base and lack of a local watchmaking ecosystem. However, MING remains focused on innovation, exploring new complications and designs while staying true to its founding principles of value, integrity, and coherent design.
