Details

The Marathon Anthracite SAR was first issued in 2018 for stealth during tactical night missions. Hand-assembled, with a durable black anti-reflective Ion-Plating (IP) armour on its 316L Stainless Steel case and movement. Yet not all operators are built the same. The 46mm Anthracite Jumbo Day/Date has been added to the unit to accommodate larger wrist sizes during tactical night ops. Includes 3-Piece Rubber Strap Kit with Anthracite Hardware.

The JDD is powered by a Sellita SW220 Shock Absorber automatic movement with Incabloc™ and features 26 jewels. It also boasts a bilingual day/date window that displays in both English and French, making it ideal for use in multinational military operations.

The Marathon 46mm Anthracite JDD is a rugged and reliable dive watch engineered for use in the most extreme conditions. This model is finished with a durable, anti-reflective black Ion-Plated coating over a 316L stainless steel case and movement. Designed in Canada, this watch is Swiss-made and features a 26 Jewel Sellita SW220 movement with Incabloc™ shock absorber providing premium precision. The watch also includes a day/date calendar, equipped with Rapid Day Date Correction which allows for easy adjustment of the day and date.

The outer shell of the Jumbo Day/Date (JDD) consists of a 316L stainless steel case (measuring 46mm in diameter and 18mm thick), a screw-in crown, and a sapphire crystal. The unidirectional bezel with 60-minute scale and two scale quantities (1-12 and 13-24) ensures precise timing for professional or recreational diving. The JDD also features tritium gas tubes on all hour markers and the full hand set for constant illumination in low light conditions, with a double tritium marker at the 12 o'clock position and a MaraGlo™ bezel pip for easy orientation. The watch is rated for a submersibility of 30ATM, allowing the JDD to function at depths of up to 300M (1000FT) underwater.

The JDD is hand-assembled in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, ensuring the highest level of craftsmanship and accuracy. To maintain the watch's precision and longevity, see our care guide.

Brand History

Marathon Watch Company has built a reputation as one of the most trusted military watch brands in the world. Founded in 1939, Marathon specializes in Swiss-made tool watches designed specifically for government and military use.

Unlike many luxury watch brands, Marathon focuses on function over flash. The brand has supplied U.S. and Allied forces with durable, high-performance timepieces for decades. Their watches are known for tritium gas tube illumination, allowing constant visibility in low-light conditions—no charging required.

Popular models like the Marathon GSAR (Government Search and Rescue) and TSAR (Tritium Search and Rescue) are built to withstand extreme environments, making them a go-to choice for divers, pilots, and professionals.

Today, Marathon continues to produce military-issued watches, combining Swiss craftsmanship, rugged durability, and tactical design. If you're searching for a reliable tool watch with real military heritage, Marathon stands in a class of its own.
