Limited to 1,100 pieces, the Hamilton Khaki Field and Pilot Pioneer Limited Editions For Hodinkee can be purchased individually or as a Collector's set: with 800 Field, 100 Pilot, and 200 sets available. The set comes with a limited-edition Pelican case for storage and travel, and both individual and set options include a pack of custom-themed Field Notes inspired by the watch's design. The Hamilton Khaki Field and Pilot Pioneer Limited Editions For Hodinkee are inspired by the Hamilton 6BB "G.S." Tropicalized British Military Watch Ref. 75003-3. Designed as a discreet, but tough field watch, the original was produced in the ’60s and ’70s as a General Services watch (hence the G.S) made for non-military members of the British Armed Forces, members of diplomatic services, or as those who used diplomatic services as cover. The casebacks were often engraved with a “TROPICALIZED” denotation, indicating that these particular references had been temperature compensated and made water-resistant in order to stand up to the heat and humidity of equatorial territories. To put it in other words, this very well could be the watch that the real James Bond would have been issued during his service as a 007.

We’ve taken close notes from the vintage reference in our designs of both the Khaki Field and Pilot Pioneer. With a matte black dial, railroad track, and perfectly-aged Radium lume plots, the 75003-3 felt like a classic that deserved to be brought back into service. We took those elements and added a few of our own touches, including bright orange seconds and chronograph hands to give the watches some color and a high visibility impact. The result is a pair of watches that look true to their vintage military inspiration and inspire the same sense of adventure.

The Hamilton Khaki Field Limited Edition For Hodinkee is a faithful recreation of the aforementioned Hamilton 6BB “G.S.” and features the 38mm stainless steel case with a sandblasted finish - proven comfortable and tough enough for military standards. Equipped with a matte black dial, a creamy white railroad track, and a bright orange seconds hand, the Hamilton Khaki Field Limited Edition For Hodinkee feels just like the original - but built for today. Modern luminous material doesn’t age the way that tritium lume did, so the Super-LumiNova has been colored to match the patinated tone of aged tritium lume, which also helps to pay homage to the original 75003-3 military watch. The contrast of the matte black dial and lumed markers and hands makes for a particularly legible dial - an important feature for evening jaunts through the jungle. To keep things as authentic - and mechanical - as possible, inside is the hand-wound Hamilton Caliber H50, which boasts an impressive 80 hours of power reserve. The back of the case is engraved with “Limited Edition For Hodinkee” and individually numbered ####/1000.

While Hamilton did not originally pair a pilot watch with the 75003-3, they have a similarly long history of making pilot watches for the world’s militaries. With the launch of the Hamilton Khaki Pilot Pioneer Mechanical Chronograph in 2022, we now had a perfect platform for translating the design of our field watch into a watch destined for the skies. Serving as a companion to the Hamilton Khaki Field Limited Edition For Hodinkee, we took the same dial, Super-LumiNova color, and orange seconds hand, and outfitted them within the curved chronograph case of the Pilot Pioneer Mechanical Chronograph. The 40mm brushed and polished stainless steel case is reminscent of chronograph cases produced by Hamilton decades ago. The two-register chronograph layout offers an uncluttered dial crucial for a pilot who must be able to tell the time or running seconds at a quick glance. Inside is the H51-Si movement, based on the ETA 7753; this hand-wound chronograph movement is a true example of a “workhorse.” It boasts a 60-hour power reserve, a silicon hairspring, and up to 100m water resistance. Like its partner, the caseback is engraved with Limited Edition For Hodinkee and individually numbered ###/300.

Numbers 1-200 of each watch will be available only as part of a set. The Hamilton Khaki Collector’s Set for Hodinkee gives the owner an option of a rugged field watch or an adventure-ready chronograph. The two watches come fashioned in a complementary custom Pelican case. Included in the case is an additional pair of nylon NATO straps, a valet mat, and a set of special edition watch-focused Field Notes. The watches sit in a custom mold that can easily be removed to convert the Pelican case into a storage box - for use on your next great adventure.
