The Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar Ref. 1-90-02-42-32-61 is a distinctly German take on the high-end moonphase watch, combining traditional Glashütte watchmaking with the asymmetric design language that defines the brand’s Pano collection. Its 40mm stainless steel case measures 12.7mm thick and surrounds a cool silver galvanic dial produced in-house through roughly 40 individual manufacturing steps. Hours and minutes occupy the large off-center display on the left, with small seconds directly beneath, while the right side balances Glashütte Original’s signature Panorama Date with a beautifully executed moonphase display featuring polished silver moons against a deep blue, star-filled background. Blued hands, applied silver indexes, fine vinyl-style finishing on the subdials, sapphire crystal, and 50 meters of water resistance complete an elegant design heavily influenced by the principles of the golden ratio.

Visible through the sapphire caseback is Glashütte Original’s in-house Calibre 90-02, an automatic manufacture movement operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and providing approximately 42 hours of power reserve. The movement showcases many of the traditional details associated with fine Saxon watchmaking, including a Glashütte three-quarter plate, blued screws, polished steel components, beveled edges, a hand-engraved balance bridge, and the brand’s distinctive duplex swan-neck fine adjustment. Its skeletonized off-center rotor incorporates a 21-karat gold oscillating weight while leaving much of the movement architecture visible. With its unconventional dial layout, oversized Panorama Date, romantic moonphase complication, and extensively decorated manufacture movement, the PanoMaticLunar offers a particularly compelling alternative to traditional Swiss dress watches while remaining unmistakably Glashütte Original.
