Details

The Favre Leuba Sea Sky Revival 00.20212.112.01.101 is a modern reinterpretation of the brand’s vintage “Sea Sky” chronograph, tailored for those who appreciate both heritage and precision in a daily-wear format. Encased in 40 mm of stainless steel with brushed and polished surfaces, the design remains faithful to its 1960s roots—even down to the piston-style chronograph pushers and notched bezel—while integrating contemporary materials such as a ceramic bezel insert and a double-domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. Its black matte dial frames a tricompax chronograph layout, with contrasting subdials for 30-minute, 12-hour, and small-seconds registers. Around the periphery, both a tachymeter and a telemeter scale enrich its functionality, permitting speed and distance measurements in classic style. Vintage cues—such as ecru-toned luminous indices and faceted hands—lend it a warm, period feel without sacrificing usability.

Inside this instrument beats the La Joux-Perret L112 (Top Grade) automatic chronograph caliber, offering a 60-hour power reserve and a 4 Hz operating frequency.  The movement is richly finished, with perlage on the lower bridges, Côtes de Genève on the main plate, heat-blued screws, and a skeletonized 4N rotor with colimaçon/soleillage detailing, visible through the sapphire exhibition caseback. The case is water-resistant to 100 m, and the watch is paired with a black leather strap incorporating Favre Leuba’s quick-change system for easy swaps. With its blend of technical sophistication, heritage styling, and functional versatility, the Sea Sky Revival makes a compelling case as a chronograph that respects the past while stepping firmly into the present.

Brand History

Favre Leuba traces its roots back to 1737 in Le Locle, Switzerland, when Abraham Favre is documented as running his own watchmaking workshop.
Over the next generations, his descendants expanded the firm: in 1792 a formal firm “A. Favre & Fils” was established, and by 1815 Henry-Auguste Favre partnered with Auguste Leuba, coalescing into the name Favre-Leuba.

The brand became known not just for fine complications and precise movements, but for technical innovation: in the 1950s and 60s, Favre Leuba developed proprietary calibers (FL101, FL103/104) and produced landmark tool watches such as the Bivouac—the first mechanical wristwatch combining altimeter and barometer—and the Deep Blue diver’s watch.

However, the quartz revolution of the 1970s–80s strained many traditional mechanical watchmakers, and in 1985 the Favre family was forced to cede control of the company.

Over the years the brand passed through various owners, including stints with LVMH and, later, Titan (of India).
Ethos Watches
In recent years, Favre Leuba has attempted revivals and re-launches: in 2011 Titan acquired it, and as of 2024–2025 it is undergoing yet another revival with fresh watch collections, renewed branding (dropping the hyphen), and an eye toward reconnecting with its heritage—particularly its longstanding ties to India.
