Details

The Breitling Transocean Chronograph Unitime Pilot Blacksteel Ref. MB0510U6/BC80 is an exceptionally distinctive limited-edition world-time chronograph that combines Breitling's aviation heritage with an aggressive, all-black aesthetic. Limited to just 1,000 individually numbered pieces worldwide, the watch features a substantial 46mm stainless steel case treated with Breitling's signature Blacksteel carbon-based coating, giving it a stealthy matte finish. Its black dial features applied luminous hour markers, contrasting white markings, and a striking red central chronograph seconds hand. Three recessed registers display running seconds at 9 o'clock, a 30-minute chronograph counter at 3, and a 12-hour counter at 6, while a date window sits between 4 and 5 o'clock. Surrounding the dial is the Unitime's signature rotating world-time display, featuring a city ring representing 24 global time zones and a corresponding 24-hour day/night scale. A cambered sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides, solid engraved caseback, and 100 meters of water resistance complete the design. The Blacksteel edition was offered with a matching black-coated Ocean Classic mesh bracelet, creating a particularly striking monochromatic appearance.

Inside is Breitling's in-house Manufacture Calibre B05, a COSC-certified automatic chronograph movement developed from the brand's acclaimed B01 architecture. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour with 56 jewels, the movement delivers an impressive approximately 70-hour power reserve while combining a column-wheel chronograph with a sophisticated world-time complication. Its most impressive feature is the ability to display the time across all 24 principal time zones simultaneously, with the city and 24-hour discs adjusted through the crown when traveling between time zones. This allows the wearer to update the local time while maintaining the watch's timekeeping and chronograph operation. The Transocean collection drew inspiration from Breitling's elegant aviation watches of the 1950s and 1960s, but the Unitime Pilot Blacksteel takes that heritage in a far more technical and contemporary direction. With its imposing 46mm case, distinctive blacked-out construction, manufacture B05 movement, sophisticated world-time functionality, and production limited to only 1,000 pieces, the MB0510U6/BC80 represents one of the most complicated and visually distinctive watches from Breitling's discontinued Transocean collection.

Brand History

Breitling, founded in 1884 by Léon Breitling in Switzerland, has a rich history of innovation in watchmaking. The company quickly established itself as a leader in precision timers and chronographs, introducing significant advancements such as the first wrist-worn chronograph with an independent pusher in 1915. Under the leadership of three generations of the Breitling family, the brand became renowned for its aviation timepieces, launching the iconic Navitimer in 1952. Despite challenges from quartz technology in the 1970s, Breitling adapted and continued to innovate, introducing models like the Chronomat and Aerospace that combined traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology.

In recent years, Breitling has undergone a strategic repositioning under new ownership and leadership. While honoring its heritage, the brand has embraced modern design, sustainability, and digital innovation. Breitling has restructured its product portfolio around Air, Land, and Sea categories, reintroduced classic collections, and launched eco-friendly initiatives. The company has also ventured into digital realms with blockchain-based watch passports and a subscription service. These efforts have positioned Breitling as a forward-thinking brand that balances its storied past with contemporary consumer needs and values.
