Aquastar Benthos Heritage One

The Aquastar Benthos Heritage One is a faithful modern recreation of the legendary Benthos 500 introduced in 1970, one of the most technically important professional dive watches in Aquastar’s history. The Heritage One preserves the original’s distinctive tonneau-shaped proportions with a 42mm case crafted from corrosion-resistant 904L stainless steel, measuring a compact 47mm lug-to-lug and retaining the unusual crown placement at 2 o’clock. Its semi-gloss blue dial features large applied markers filled with high-density white X1 Super-LumiNova, while a unidirectional 120-click ceramic bezel provides a highly legible 60-minute elapsed-time scale. A flat sapphire crystal with triple anti-reflective coating, genuine ISOfrane rubber strap, and an impressive 500 meters of water resistance give the Heritage One genuine professional diving credentials.

Inside is a Swiss-made ETA 2824-2 Élaboré automatic movement, operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and providing the straightforward hours, minutes, and seconds functionality appropriate for a purpose-built dive instrument. More importantly, the Heritage One carries forward the legacy of the original Benthos 500, which Aquastar describes as the first dive watch rated to 500 meters without relying on a monobloc case construction, allowing the watch to remain serviceable while achieving exceptional depth resistance. The original Benthos later became closely associated with professional and military diving, including use by French Marine Nationale combat divers. By combining the dimensions and unmistakable asymmetric architecture of the 1970 original with modern sapphire, ceramic, Super-LumiNova, and 904L steel construction, the Benthos Heritage One offers an unusually authentic revival of one of the lesser-known but historically significant professional dive watches of the era.
