The 1966 Omega Seamaster 300 Ref. 165.024 is an iconic vintage dive watch that embodies the golden era of tool watches. Designed for professional divers, this model features a robust 42mm stainless steel case with twisted lugs and an asymmetrical shape, providing extra protection for the crown. The watch is powered by the reliable Omega Caliber 552 automatic movement, known for its precision and durability. Its black dial, adorned with bold tritium-coated hour markers and broad sword hands, ensures optimal legibility in low-light underwater conditions. A bi-directional rotating bezel with a Bakelite insert and a distinct 60-minute scale enhances its functionality, making it a true diver’s instrument.

The Seamaster 300 165.024 stands out for its military associations, having been issued to the British Royal Navy in the late 1960s. Its no-nonsense design, combined with a 300-meter water resistance rating, made it a trusted companion for deep-sea explorers and naval professionals. Unlike earlier references, the 165.024 introduced a more pronounced case design and enhanced bezel grip, elements that would influence later Omega dive watches. Today, this vintage model remains highly sought after by collectors, valued for its history, aesthetic appeal, and enduring mechanical excellence. Whether worn as a statement piece or preserved as part of a collection, the 1966 Omega Seamaster 300 continues to represent the pinnacle of mid-century dive watch craftsmanship.
