The Chronosport Meca-Quartz blends the best of mechanical and quartz movements in a hybrid chronograph that delivers precision with a sweeping chronograph hand. Its matte black textured dial is adorned with Art Deco-inspired sub-dials in salmon tones, adding depth and a unique vintage appeal.

Powered by the VK67 Meca-Quartz movement, the Chronosport Meca-Quartz offers a three-year battery life and maintains the elegance of traditional watchmaking. The 38mm stainless steel case features a rotating aluminum bezel, a double-domed sapphire crystal, and a screw-down caseback, ensuring water resistance up to 200 meters (20 ATM).

Available with leather, steel, and rubber strap options, this model offers versatility and style at an accessible price point.A Quartz Watch with a Mechanical Feel This new version of the Nivada Chronosport features the famous Art Deco-style typography on the sub-dials, here in sand or salmon tones, which illuminate the textured black dial and create depth with a 3D effect. It is powered by a VK67 Meca-Quartz movement with a three-year battery life. The chronograph hand sweeps smoothly across the dial, mimicking the motion of mechanical watches. The principle of a Meca-Quartz movement is to combine the precision of quartz with the beauty of traditional watchmaking, thanks to an automatic movement module. The quartz part provides the timekeeping, while the mechanical module ensures the proper operation of the chronograph (at 6 o’clock). This is why they are often called hybrid movements. The Chronosport Meca-Quartz models are available with multiple strap options, including leather, various styles of steel, and rubber.

Brand History:

Nivada Grenchen, established in 1926 in Grenchen, Switzerland, quickly became renowned for its rugged tool watches that pushed the boundaries of horological innovation. The brand solidified its reputation with the introduction of the Antarctic in 1950, the first waterproof automatic watch. This timepiece gained fame when it accompanied members of the U.S. Navy's Operation Deep Freeze I during their South Pole expedition from 1955 to 1956.

In 1961, Nivada Grenchen launched the Chronomaster, a versatile waterproof chronograph designed for aviators, divers, and sports enthusiasts. The company continued its innovative streak with the release of the Depthomatic in 1964, the first diver's watch featuring a depth indicator, followed by the Depthmaster in 1965, capable of withstanding pressures up to 1,000 meters.

After a period of dormancy, Nivada Grenchen experienced a rebirth in 2018, reintroducing two of its most iconic models—the Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver and the Antarctic—at the forefront of its revival. The relaunch paved the way for the brand’s enduring appeal among modern watch enthusiasts while honoring its storied heritage.
