Inside the Tudor Pelagos 39 “Dino” Made for Google’s Watches@ Club
The Tudor Pelagos 39 Titanium Ref. 25407 “Dino” is an exceptional modern dive watch with a uniquely contemporary backstory. Created for the watch collectors club at Google, this special edition was made available through the company’s internal group, Watches@. The project brought together Google’s watch enthusiast community, Bay Area retailer Shreve & Co., and Tudor, resulting in one of the more interesting employee-commissioned Tudor watches in recent memory.

The watch itself is based on the highly wearable Pelagos 39, measuring 39mm in diameter and crafted entirely from titanium, including both the case and bracelet. Lightweight, durable, and purpose-built, the Pelagos 39 offers the refined utility of a modern Tudor sports watch while maintaining the tool-watch DNA that defines the Pelagos line. What separates this version from the standard production model is immediately visible on the dial: a small pixelated Google Chrome Dino placed at the 6 o’clock position. The same Dino motif is also featured as an engraving on the caseback, giving the watch a subtle but unmistakable connection to Google.

According to a Google Chrome PR manager who was involved in the ordering and creation process, the group worked with Shreve & Co. for more than a year to secure Tudor’s approval and finalize the design. The result was a limited run of 617 pieces, pre-ordered in July 2024 and delivered in December of that same year. That relatively small production number, combined with the watch’s internal Google connection, gives the piece a level of rarity and cultural relevance that goes far beyond a standard Pelagos 39.

For those less familiar with internet culture, the small creature on the dial is the Google Chrome Dinosaur, also known as the official digital mascot and lead character in Chrome’s beloved offline Easter egg game. Built into the Chrome browser in 2014, the game appears when users lose internet connection and was designed as a playful nod to the “prehistoric ages” of offline computing. On this Tudor, the Dino transforms from a nostalgic internet icon into a discreet collector’s detail, blending modern tech culture with Swiss watchmaking in a way few watches can.
The Tudor Pelagos 39 “Dino” is ultimately a watch that succeeds on multiple levels. It is a serious titanium dive watch, a rare employee-commissioned Tudor, and a clever tribute to one of Google Chrome’s most recognizable hidden features. For collectors who appreciate Tudor’s modern tool-watch design and watches with a story, this limited Google Watches@ edition is a standout example.
